The cruising season has arrived in South Africa and like many others, I am also counting down to my holiday and planning a little in advance.
The cruise does have a dress code for the various activities you will undertake during your cruise, so you can carry a mix of clothing; anything from white dresses to a bodysuit or t-shirts is appropriate. If you are looking for a variety of cute Men T-Shirt for your partner, check out Superbalist. They have a vast summer collection to get you and your other half cruise ready! Buy now.
Casual wear is recommended for daytime attire like shorts and t-shirts. A more polished look is recommended for evening wear when dining in the main dining rooms and speciality restaurants and while enjoying the entertainment in the theatre, bars, and lounges. Collared shirts, tailored pants or shorts, skirts, and dresses are suggested. Credit: MSC cruises.
Must-have items:
- Sunhat/Cap
- Sunglasses
- Swimming costumes and cover-ups
- Sweater or a jacket for the evenings – it does get a little chilly on the deck.
- Flip flops
- Evening dresses/ Formalwear
- Shorts and t-shirts – it might be easier to carry more shorts or jumpsuits than dresses as the wind does pick up outside in the evening.
- Something in white for theme night.
- Something tropical for the sail away party.
If you want to visit the gym, you must carry gym wear.
If possible, try to create a capsule look for your cruise so you do not end up carrying too many items – Also try to carry items that do not crease easily because ironing might not always be available for you.
Here are a few suggestions for you:
- Carry one pair of dark jeans, and a few stylish tops to compliment that pair of jeans.
- Carry one maxi dress that you can use after you visit the pool or beach.
- Carry accessories that can help you repurpose an outfit; like a scarf or jewellery that can take a day look to a night look.
- Try to limit the number of shoes you carry – trust me, you might not even end up using them all. 3 pairs were enough for me.
I always like to mix and match clothing when cruising. It is so important to look at the itinerary before embarking so you have an idea of what activities to expect each day.
Cruising is all about relaxing and having fun so don’t overthink that wardrobe too much and wear what you are comfortable in.
Happy Cruising!

Copper carbonate scrap acquisition Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) is a highly toxic gas and one of the main pollutants in the atmosphere. The traditional method for removing NO2 is using physical or chemical adsorbents, which is not only expensive but also not environmentally friendly. Recently, the development of catalytic systems for the reduction of NO2 has been an active research area. In this context, the use of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) has gained attention due to their intrinsic properties, such as high surface area, high porosity, and tunable composition, which make them suitable for catalytic applications. However, the challenge is to design a highly effective and efficient catalytic system with high selectivity, stability, and durability. In a recent study, a novel MOF named Cu–DOBDC (DOBDC = 2,5-dioxidobenzene-1,4-dicarboxylate) was synthesized, and the catalytic performance of atomically dispersed copper sites in the Cu–DOBDC MOF for the reduction of NO2 was investigated. It was found that the Cu–DOBDC MOF exhibited high catalytic activity and selectivity towards the reduction of NO2 with molecular hydrogen (H2) as a reductant. The Cu–DOBDC MOF was characterized using various techniques such as powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). The results showed that the copper sites in Cu–DOBDC MOF were uniformly dispersed and coordinated with the surrounding oxygen atoms, forming a unique Cu–O–C framework. The catalytic performance of Cu–DOBDC MOF was evaluated using a fixed-bed reactor at different reaction temperatures, H2/NO2 ratios, and gas hourly space velocities (GHSV). It was found that the Cu–DOBDC MOF exhibited high NO2 conversion and selectivity towards nitrogen (N2) with a minimal formation of unwanted by-products such as nitric oxide (NO) and ammonia (NH3). The Cu–DOBDC MOF also demonstrated excellent stability and durability without any deactivation or structural changes during the reaction. In conclusion, this study demonstrated the potential of atomically dispersed copper sites in the Cu–DOBDC MOF for the reduction of NO2 with H2 as a reductant. The Cu–DOBDC MOF exhibited high catalytic activity, selectivity, stability, and durability and can be a promising alternative to the traditional physical or chemical adsorbents for removing NO2 from the atmosphere Metal waste treatment Market demand for recycled copper Copper scrap storage practices Recycling scrap Copper wire Insulated copper wire recycling Metal recycling yard
Scrap Copper collection Copper is one of the most commonly used metals in everyday life. From electrical wiring to piping and even in kitchen utensils, copper is a versatile metal that is highly valued for its conductivity and malleability. While there are many methods for producing copper, recycled copper sources play an increasingly important role in maintaining the current supply of this valuable metal. Copper recycling is an important process that reduces the environmental impact of copper production and conserves resources. According to the European Copper Institute, copper recycling saves up to 85% of the energy needed to produce new copper and conserves natural resources by reducing the need for new mining operations. In addition, recycled copper can be just as high quality as freshly mined copper, making it a valuable resource for a wide variety of applications. There are several sources of recycled copper, including scrap from manufacturing processes and end-of-life products. Manufacturing scrap is generated during the production of copper products and can be melted down and reused. End-of-life products, such as electrical wiring or plumbing, can also be recycled, generating a new source for copper. Additionally, discarded electronics, such as computers and smartphones, contain small amounts of copper that can be recovered through the recycling process. The copper recycling process starts with the collection and sorting of materials. Once collected, the materials are sorted based on their copper content and other impurities. The sorted materials are then processed to remove any non-copper materials, such as plastic or insulation, before being melted down to form new copper products. There are several benefits to using recycled copper. In addition to reducing the environmental impact of copper production, it also helps to conserve natural resources, extend the life of existing copper products, and reduce the amount of waste in landfills. Furthermore, it can be economically beneficial for businesses to recycle copper, as they can sell the copper scrap and reduce their production costs by using recycled copper in their manufacturing processes. Overall, recycled copper sources play an increasingly important role in meeting the demand for copper while minimizing the environmental impact and conserving resources.
