Sometimes school can be overwhelming even when you’re 7 years old. 

My son, Kiaan is in grade 2 but to be honest, he has had a bumpy start to school already. For a minute, I didn’t even think he would be in grade 2 this year because of all the challenges we faced last year. 

“He is brilliant but has a hard time putting that down on paper” was the exact words his teacher uttered to me last year during a meeting. I’m still not sure if it was supposed to make me feel better or not because honestly, at that moment, I felt like the worst mom in the world.

How could I have not picked up on this earlier? Where did I go wrong? What could I have done better?

The reality is that this happens, kids are so different (trust me, I know, I have 3 kids with 3 different personalities) so we have to stop being so hard on ourselves as moms and think about what we can do to improve the situation or solve it quickly to move forward.

Being a mom is one of the hardest jobs in the world, add that to being a working mom makes it even harder to always be hands-on with the kids when it comes to homework.
