Back in the day, when I was a kid, I had this huge thing for Converse All Star. I wanted a pair so badly mainly because many friends around me owned one. When my mom finally had the budget for it, she surprised me with a pair on my birthday. I think that’s one of the big reasons why these shoes mean so much to me. It’s like they’re wrapped in memories.

And when punk rock hit the scene in the ’70s, these shoes became a symbol of sticking it to the man, rebelling against the norms, and basically saying, “Hey, we’re doing things our own way!”
