What Causes a Diaper Rash?

A diaper rash is very common especially for newborn babies since their skin is super sensitive. Sometimes it just can’t be avoided.

I learned a trick to try to reduce the chances of a diaper rash:

My last born is almost 8 months old and only had one severe diaper rash once thus far.

Every morning, I leave him without a nappy for about 5 minutes or so in the sun. This helps his skin to breathe and if your child does have a nappy rash, the sun helps to heal it quicker.

Why Do You Need Diaper Rash Cream?

Diaper rash creams offer a protective barrier between baby’s bottom and potential irritants especially when you are using disposable diapers. Many moms who do cloth nappies don’t use a diaper rash cream while a few still prefer to just in case.

Some diaper rash creams have a soothing ingredient to help with inflammation and irritation.

How would you know if your baby has a diaper rash?

Trust me, you will know. You will normally see redness, bumps or patches around the bum, genitals, and thighs. A severe diaper rash can bleed or have an infected sore. If it does get severe, you might need to visit your Paediatrician for a specific diaper rash cream which is normally mixed for you at the pharmacy.
