This post was written by Janice Windt – Working Mothers Blog.
I was early to pick my son up from school last week – for the very first time. I was early because he had told me that the reason he stubbed his toe at the end of the previous day was “because you weren’t there.” That hurt – more than the stubbed toe. It is one of the most difficult and important things in the world to make the most of your time… especially as a working mother.
For the past few years, I have been mothering two beautiful young men (currently aged 3 and 4), founding a start-up, working part-time in a career at an Investment Bank that took a decade to build and was something else entirely to balance with two young sons, two house moves, several bouts of immigration planning sessions etc… it is the stuff we all have to cope with. Daily. There are so few hours in the day that working mothers try desperately to make every thirty minutes count. And we still have to look hot! Or kind-of okay in my case – most days.
We forget that the fifteen-to-twenty minutes that we make our kids wait for us because we had to fit that last thing in add up… they do. When I saw my son coming back from library with his class – I saw him first – he looked deep in thought. He is related to me, after all! Then he looked up as he heard me call his name and all the colours of the rainbow of joy spread across his face as he ran into my open arms. Wow. It’s been a while since I got a greeting like that from him actually…
I think I’ll make SURE I’m on time today.
So how can we make the most of every moment with ourselves, our faith, our husbands, our kids, our companies, our pet projects? How can we make every moment count so that our lives start to become a tapestry of happy moments woven together rather than a running together of wet colours in an oil painting where everything ends up brown from all the over mixing and rushing around?
5 Ways to Make Every Moment Count as a Working Mother:
1) Prioritise.
What is most important to you? Do more of that and less of everything else…
2) Clear your diary.
Just say no. I am over over-committing. I want to be on time for my kids.
3) Pause to breathe.
I’ve noticed that when I am in a good and positive mood, with energy to share, the rest of my family is too. Things just seem to happen easier that way. Less tantrums, less raised voices, more aaaaaahhhhh
4) Sing.
Even if you do it badly. Kids LOVE to hear your croaky voice – it makes them feel free to use their own! My son has recently started singing “rock ‘n roll” in the car with his Dad… “Are we human? Or are we dancer?”… that song is replacing Brahms Lullaby as his favorite goodnight song… maybe it’s a good thing.

I really appreciate your suggestions, im pregnant, really anxious to the newborn. Just a quick question, does pregnant woman have to wear maternity dresses?
No you don’t have too! I always bought bigger sizes, I guess it is a personal choice.
These are all great ideas! I try hard to stay away from work after my work day. I will cuddle with my little man and play games.
I agree, you need to be available to your (my) kiddos. I always make sure when I pick up my kids from school, (and I have been late several times)to never be on my phone and always show them I am happy to see them.
Great article. I am not a mother but I do fear beaing able to manage everything when I do become one. And not disappointing the little ones while trying to maneuver
The life of a working mom can be so busy. Great tips to help through the day.
These are fab tips for any working mom, whether the kids are human or furry. I like the diary idea a lot.
Great post and wonderful tips! My favorite one is to sing with your babies! It really is true, singing makes kids happy. My daughter loves to sing especially with me!! The convention sounds wonderful, have a great time!
The expo event sounds like a good one to attend to. I am with you with over committing.
Overcommitting is definitely my problem too. Balancing is so hard especially when you want to please everyone.
i am not a mom but i still find that i over commit. it is something that i must work on as well.
What a great expo for working moms. Totally agree with your tips – I prioritize what’s important, I make sure to take a breather and most of all, I sing. 🙂

Copper scrap community outreach Mining has a rich and fascinating history that spans over 70 centuries. From simple hand tools and techniques to innovative machines and technologies, mining has evolved significantly over time. Early forms of mining date back to 5,000 BC, when humans first began extracting metals such as gold and copper from the earth. These early mining operations relied on basic tools like picks, shovels, and axes, as well as manual labor. As civilizations advanced and demands for minerals grew, mining methods became more sophisticated. The Ancient Egyptians, for example, used advanced techniques like fire-setting and drilling to extract and process metals. The Romans also developed innovative tools like tamping iron and hydraulic mining, which allowed them to extract minerals on a much larger scale. During the Industrial Revolution, mining underwent another major transformation. The invention of steam-powered machines and new mining technologies like the drill, dynamite, and the steam pump revolutionized the industry, making it more efficient and profitable. In the 20th century, mining continued to evolve with the advent of electric-powered machinery, remote-controlled equipment, and advanced exploration techniques like seismic surveys. The industry also faced new challenges such as environmental regulations, safety standards, and labor issues. Today, mining is a complex and highly regulated industry that continues to innovate and evolve. From automation and artificial intelligence to renewable energy and sustainable practices, the future of mining is full of exciting possibilities Scrap metal refining Scrap copper dealer Scrap Copper recycling centers Copper scrap cost efficiency Copper scrap crushing Metal waste reclaiming services

Innovative technologies for copper scrap recycling Copper is a metal that is known for its tendency to turn green over time due to oxidation. However, there are several ways to prevent copper from turning green and maintain its natural shine and color. 1. Apply a protective coating: One way to prevent copper from turning green is to apply a protective coating such as lacquer or varnish. This coating forms a barrier between the copper and the elements, preventing oxidation. 2. Keep it dry: Moisture is a catalyst for oxidation, so it’s important to keep your copper items as dry as possible. Dry them thoroughly after cleaning and don’t leave them in humid areas or outside in wet weather. 3. Clean it regularly: Regular cleaning can help prevent copper from turning green by removing dirt, dust, and other particles that can speed up the oxidation process. Use a gentle cleaner specifically formulated for copper and avoid abrasive cleaners or scrubbing pads that can damage the surface. 4. Store it properly: Proper storage can also help prevent copper from turning green. Store your copper items in a dry, cool, and dark place to protect them from sunlight and moisture. 5. Use a copper protector: Copper protectors, such as baking soda or lemon juice, can help prevent copper from turning green by neutralizing acids that cause oxidation. By following these steps, you can help prevent copper from turning green and maintain its natural beauty for years to come Metal scrap recovery yard Copper scrap industry analysis Copper scrap metal Copper scrap metal brokerage Industrial copper recycling Metal scrap reclaiming
