I’ve always dreamt of having a chef at home. To me cooking is an art and very few people can master it, unfortunately I’m not one of those. I’m really trying to enjoy my time in the kitchen by learning new recipes and trying different cooking methods.
When Fry’s family foods emailed asking if I would be interested in hosting a dinner party for 9 friends, why on earth would I say no?! This was an opportunity I would most probably get once in a lifetime! I quickly replied without even thinking about it and said a big YES! If you didn’t know, November is World Vegan month. Fry’s decided to use this opportunity to show people how vegetarian food can be tasty, healthy and pretty looking!
World Vegan Month is November every year, commemorating the coining of the term, ‘vegan’ and the founding of The Vegan Society in November 1944. You can read more about the history here.
About Fry’s Family Food:
“From small innovative beginnings in the Fry’s Family kitchen, Fry’s has become an international success. In an effort to seek vegetarian varieties Wally and Debbie Fry, both committed vegetarians, began making protein alternatives or meat analogues for their own consumption. In 1992, just one year later, these ideas formed the canvas for innovative discovery which led to the establishment of Fry Group Foods. Fry Group Foods is still owned and run, passionately, by the Fry’s Family and has grown in product and stature to where it is today.”
I’m not a vegetarian and I don’t think I will ever be but that doesn’t mean I wont eat a full course vegetarian meal. My biggest problem is getting flavors that work together. I knew this would be the perfect opportunity to learn from the best and get some tips.
Planning the dinner party was easy, my husband and I smsed (actually whatsapped) friends and found a few that were available on the date we set. I was super excited for this; I’ve never had a chef in my small kitchen before and I was so eager to eat vegetarian food (can you believe it?).
Everyone that attended wasn’t sure what was happening or why we were hosting this but we filled them in as soon as they arrived. A few of my friends were confused on how vegetarian food can be served as fine dining but by the end of the night they were sold!
Chef Pieter arrived first, it was an honour to meet a man who is so talented and clean in the kitchen. He started preparing and I was already impressed by his knife techniques and multitasking.
The kitchen was filled with a variety of ingredients which I never thought could be used together. The aroma of these flavours filled the house as my guests arrived eagerly waiting to learn more about Fry’s.While Chef Pieter was busy with the first course, we mingled and had a catch up session with friends we haven’t seen in ages. Kitana was super excited to have company over and she definitely used that to her advantage. My guests were taken to her playroom for some “high tea” before dinner was served.
First course – Warm Sesame Toasted Strips
I’ve never eaten Fry’s chicken strips before so it was something I was nervous about since I’m quite picky with taste. I loved that it wasn’t overwhelming to the palette! It was light and refreshing. I think this would be one of the easier dishes to make from the 3 we tasted. The pomegranate added flavour to all the dishes prepared.
Second course – Tooti Fruity Chicken Burger
Chef used the chicken style burgers for this dish. It was simple but yet sooo filling! Definitely my favorite from the night. It’s a dish I would have on a monday or friday if I’m really tired and don’t feeling like cooking a big meal. It’s healthy and tasty so why not?!
Third Course – Zesty C-Food Coconut
This was a spicy Thai curry using meat-free crispy prawns. Vije (My husband) really enjoyed this while it was my least favorite. It was a bit too spicy for me and that’s why the non Sri Lankan in the room didn’t like it. Once again the chef demonstrated you can cook healthy food with ingredients found in your kitchen.
By the end of the third course, everyone was too full to even think about dessert and decided to relax and laugh at Vije’s weird jokes instead of eating the “non healthy” (swiss roll) option which I provided for the night.
I want to compliment Chef Pieter for creating outstanding dishes and working exceptionally well in the kitchen. He definitely grabbed everyone’s attention in the room and it made the guys realise it isn’t that difficult to cook after all. Let’s hope Vije cooks one of these dishes for me.
To Fry’s Family Foods and the team, thank you for including me in this beautiful journey. It’s definitely one of the highlights for my first year of blogging and it’s a night I will never forget.
You created memories around the dinner table with a group of friends and now you’ve become a part of the family to everyone who indulged.
To my readers, you can download a free e-book from the Fry’s food website. The eCookbook has over 30 delicious meat free recipes using their products and has contributions from Debbie and Wally Fry as well as South Africa’s first MasterChef, Deena Naidoo.

Copper wire scrapping Copper (Cu) is a metal. It is a malleable, ductile, and a good conductor of heat and electricity. It has a reddish-orange color when in its pure form and is commonly used in electrical wiring, plumbing, roofing, and as a component in many alloys. Copper is classified as a transition metal and is found in the middle of the periodic table. It has an atomic number of 29 and is a member of Group 11, which includes other precious metals such as silver and gold. Copper is one of the oldest known metals and has been used by humans for thousands of years. It was first discovered in the Middle East around 9000 BCE and was later used by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. In modern times, copper is still an important material in many industries due to its unique properties. Apart from its physical properties, copper also has important biological functions in the human body. It plays a key role in the formation of red blood cells, aids in the absorption of iron, and is involved in the production of collagen and other connective tissues. In conclusion, copper is a versatile and important metal that has been used by humans for thousands of years. Whether in electrical wiring or biological processes, copper’s unique properties make it an essential material in many areas of our lives Scrap metal reclaiming and recycling yard Copper scrap recycling statistics Copper scrap recycling plant Industrial Copper scrap Copper scrap melting Scrap metal brokering
Scrap copper pickup Copper is a crucial component in the world’s transition to renewable energy, electric vehicles, and modern-day technology. It is needed to power a vast range of applications, from solar panels and wind turbines to electric cars and smartphones. However, as demand for copper continues to grow, so too does the risk of a looming supply gap. This could significantly impact the energy transition and pose a challenge to the world’s efforts to mitigate climate change. The supply of copper is currently strained due to a variety of factors. The global pandemic has disrupted supply chains and production, resulting in lower output from some of the world’s largest copper producers. In addition, many of the world’s mines are aging, with declining reserves and increasing extraction costs. As a result, new copper discoveries are becoming increasingly scarce, and it is becoming more challenging to replace depleted reserves. The most significant challenge facing the copper industry is that demand is expected to continue to grow rapidly, driven by the rollout of renewable energy and electric vehicles. In fact, the International Energy Agency predicts that copper demand for electric cars could increase ten-fold by 2030. Furthermore, the transition to renewable energy and the electrification of transportation will require vast amounts of copper wiring, infrastructure, and storage systems. In short, copper is integral to the success of the energy transition, and its supply must increase to meet demand. To prevent a shortage, copper producers will need to find new sources of copper, reduce extraction costs, and maximize efficiency. One potential solution is to promote the use of recycled copper. Recycling copper requires less energy than mining, and it has the added benefit of reducing waste. Additionally, copper producers may need to explore alternative mining techniques, such as deep-sea mining or the use of robotics and automation. In conclusion, the world’s transition to renewable energy and electric vehicles is reliant on copper production, but the supply of this critical resource is under threat. It is essential that the copper industry takes action to address the looming supply gap to ensure that the transition to a sustainable future is not short-circuitedCopper has long been prized for its utility in electrical applications, from power transmission to electronics manufacturing. However, the growing use of renewable energy sources like wind and solar power, and the electrification of transportation, are driving demand for copper to new heights. As global efforts to combat climate change continue, copper is becoming increasingly important in the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future. Renewable energy and energy storage systems rely heavily on copper wiring and components. Copper serves as a conductor in solar panels and wind turbines, as well as in power transmission lines. It’s also a critical component in batteries used for energy storage, such as those found in electric vehicles. In addition, copper is necessary for the construction of infrastructure that will support these new energy technologies, including charging stations and smart grids. As the world’s largest producer of copper, Chile is poised to benefit from this growing demand. The country’s copper industry has already experienced a surge in investment as demand for the metal has increased. Copper mining operations are expanding, with new projects underway to extract copper from deep underground deposits and from ore bodies that require more complex processing. Investment has also been made into improving the country’s infrastructure, such as expanding ports and roads to support new copper mining projects. However, the increased demand for copper also presents challenges. A significant increase in mining activity could lead to environmental and social impacts, including deforestation, water pollution, and disruption to local communities. There are also concerns about the potential for supply shortages as demand for copper continues to grow. To address these challenges, the mining industry is exploring new technologies and methods to improve the sustainability of copper production. One such technology is bioleaching, a process that uses bacteria to break down copper from low-grade ore deposits. This method is less energy-intensive than traditional mining methods, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and minimizing the need for toxic chemicals. Another approach is to increase copper recycling rates, reducing the need for new mining projects and conserving natural resources. The future of copper in the energy transition is an important issue that policymakers, industry leaders, and consumers alike must consider. While demand for copper is likely to continue to grow, it must be balanced against the need to protect the environment and local communities. Sustainable mining methods and greater emphasis on copper recycling can help to ensure that the world’s transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future is not undermined by the impacts of copper mining Scrap metal reclamation industry Copper derivative products Scrap copper inspection Copper recycling company Copper scrap processing efficiency Metal recycling and reclamation solutions
