15 Things No One will tell you about Motherhood

Since Mother’s day is around the corner, I decided to blog about all mom related topics… Anyway for many, it will be their first mother’s day while I will be celebrating my second. I remember the day I found out I’m pregnant, I was excited but scared and the day Kitana arrived, I was so confused. How would I know if she’s hungry or sick? Does this cry mean she’s sleepy or hungry? Everyone gives you advice but do they tell you what you need to hear or what you want to hear?!

15 things no one will tell you about motherhood:

1. It’s okay to cry.
I cried a lot… I cried when I was happy and sad. I never understood the reason behind it… It could be hormones or me being depressed but it happens. Being a mom isn’t the easiest job on the planet, many tears will be shed between you and your baby. Sometimes you will even cry with baby.

2. You learn best when you alone with baby.
The only way I learnt how to raise my child was by my own, sometimes moms have no idea what they doing but we do it because our gut tells us too. You figure things out as time goes by. You don’t need 5 different people telling you 5 different things.

3. You will make mistakes.
No mom is perfect, we all made mistakes or regret doing something. You can’t be there to prevent every fall or bruise. It will happen and you will get better at this new role.

4. Say goodbye to privacy.
You will have to learn to deal with a smaller version of you following you around 24/7. When you in the bathroom, in the kitchen or washing clothes.

5. Bye bye clean house.
I would never sleep with sheets that had pee on it but now I do. Who has time to change the bed sheet at 1am in the morning?! My living room has toys everywhere, I just put them aside and walk.

6. You will sing and dance even though you can’t for peanuts.
Yup we want to rock baby to sleep! Let me sing or attempt to sing twinkle twinkle little star.

7. Bye bye convertible and hello mini van.
Safety first, boot space second, hot wheels last. You need to carry a car seat, nappy bag, food, clothes and lots of toys! Traveling in a big car is the easiest if you have more than 1 kid.

8. Breastfeeding is tough.
I always thought breast-feeding was the easiest until I started… From milk ducts to leaky boobs messing my shirts daily. It’s the best but not the easiest to wean.
a). She’s addicted to the boob.

b). I own way too many loose clothing.

c). I don’t own my boobs anymore, she does.

d). Everyone sees them.

9. Your relationship with your in-laws change.
Ever since Kitana was born I’ve become much closer with my in-laws. It was a difficult journey for us but I love the space we are at the moment.

10. Mani and Pedi becomes a mini vacation.
The only time I really relax and get time out is when I’m having my monthly treatments.

11. You will gain and lose friends.

Oh yes I’ve lost many friends over the past 2 years but I’ve also gained many new friends who understand me better now as a mom.

12. Google will become your best friend.
When should I start sleep training? *Types on google*.
My child has a pimple on her nose, is that normal? *Types on google*

13. Your lingerie is gathering dust.
Would you be comfortable wearing that knowing baby is next to you?! Especially if you co-sleeping.

14. You stalk baby sales and expos.
Well I know I do… I love nappy sales!

15. Motherhood is never boring!
Every day is a new challenge and something happens that I can never forget! Enjoy your moments 😉

  8. OMW, did you write this for me???? So true! Untidy house, no privacy… I am very good at making mistakes, but atleast I learn from them.

    Lesson 1: Don’t give the key to your baby to play with when putting her in the car, she will lock the car as soon as you forget about it and close the door, this will cost you a new window.
    Lesson 2: Baby proof meds is not toddler proof!
    Lesson 3: Do not wear white!

  27. Copper scrap sorting technologies While it may seem like using a copper wire as a fuse wire could be a good idea, in reality, it would be quite a dangerous choice. The role of a fuse wire is to act as a safety device and protect electrical circuits from overloading. This means that the circuit could continue to operate even when it is experiencing dangerous levels of electrical current. Additionally, copper wire is generally much thicker than a typical fuse wire. This means that it would take a much higher amount of current flowing through the circuit to heat the copper wire enough to melt it. By the time the copper wire did begin to melt, the circuit would likely have already sustained significant damage or failed altogether. In sum, copper wire is not a suitable substitute for a fuse wire due to its high conductivity, thickness, and inability to generate enough heat to break or melt when a circuit becomes overloaded.   28. Copper alloy sorting During the Roman and Medieval times, copper smelting was a major source of pollution that had a lasting impact on the environment and human health. This is evidenced by recent research that found traces of ancient copper smelting pollution in Greenland ice cores dating back to the 1st century AD. The study, published in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, analyzed ice cores from two locations in Greenland – the NorthGrip and NEEM sites. The ice cores contained layers of sulfur and copper pollution that could be traced back to specific periods of history. According to the study, copper smelting pollution was most prevalent during the Roman and Medieval periods. During these times, copper was a highly valued metal used in various industries, including coin minting, architecture, and weaponry. The smelting process involved heating copper ore, which produced large amounts of sulfur dioxide gas and other pollutants that were released into the air. These pollutants were carried by the wind and eventually settled in the ice sheets of Greenland. The study found that the levels of copper and sulfur pollution in the ice cores were highest during the Roman and Medieval periods, and then declined gradually over time. The impact of copper smelting pollution on the environment and human health was significant. The study notes that sulfur dioxide can cause respiratory problems, especially in those with pre-existing conditions such as asthma. Copper pollution can also lead to neurological and cardiovascular problems, as well as damage to the liver and kidneys. The study provides evidence that ancient copper smelting pollution had a lasting impact on the environment. The researchers note that the decline of copper smelting pollution in Greenland ice cores occurred around the time of the Industrial Revolution, which saw a shift towards cleaner energy sources and improved environmental practices.
